About Me

“If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid"
Quote by Epictetus (from my fav movie Serendipity)
I've been crafty almost all of my life, it started when I was around 8.  We spent a lot of time with our grandparents when we were young and my Grandmother was a knitter. She taught me and I fell in love.  I remember a "vest", ya that's what we will call it, that was basically 2 squares or rectangles of garter stitch sewn together at certain points for arm holes and neck holes.  It was UGLY and my grandmother wore it when I gifted it to her, I will never forget that.     The women in my family are all crafty in their own rights, if they found something they liked, they would figure out how to do it.  My mom crocheted a little, made my sister and I matching outfits (which we maybe hated but love to look back on now)  did some interesting sponge painted walls in the 90's and so much more.   My Aunts did Needlepoint, ceramics, painting, fashion styling etc etc.   There was always passion and fun.    It always seemed to foster a "how do they do that " kind of outlook to things, I like how things are made or the process.   While I was test knitting a Pattern for a Designer about 4 years ago, I splurged on some indie dyed wool , and fell in love.     I started reading up on the process and playing for fun.   This lead to a new passion in my life and Happy Holmes Fibre Arts was born.  Now as a Mom and Wife, I get to share my passion with them and all the amazing people I have met along this journey.  Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my "Yarn Babies" and other crafts.  Hope they bring a smile to your face like they do for me everyday.
